I completed my postgraduate paediatric training in Oxford and Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom, before specializing in cardiology and spending five years in a dedicated training position in paediatric cardiology at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. I also spent 6 months at Boston Children’s Hospital and a year at Children’s Hospital Pittsburgh in the United States in fellowship positions. My subspecialty interests are in the management of paediatric heart failure and cardiomyopathy and in paediatric cardiac transplantation – alongside my general paediatric cardiology practice I run a cardiomyopathy and transplant clinic and am able to provide screening for families affected by these conditions.
I moved to Sydney from the UK in January 2015 to take up a staff specialist position in paediatric cardiology for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network. I currently work at both Children’s Hospital Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital.
I have a strong research interest, completed a postgraduate MD degree with my thesis concentrating on antibody development following cardiac transplantation, and have many publications in peer-reviewed journals. I serve in a council leadership role for an international transplant society and am often invited to speak at both national and International conferences, mainly in the fields of heart failure and transplantation. I also completed a postgraduate diploma in medical education and enjoy teaching and supervising. I’m also a conjoint senior lecturer at the University of Sydney.
I provide a full general paediatric cardiology service from newborn onwards including screening of family members as needed.
Outside of work, I live on the upper north shore and when not chasing after my three young children spend time attempting to train for marathons, hiking and continuing to explore Sydney.
