Trans-thoracic Echocardiography
A vital role in the diagnosis and management of valvular heart disease.
Echocardiography, or heart ultrasound, plays a vital role in the diagnosis and management of valvular heart disease. An echocardiogram uses ultrasound waves to create images of your heart. It provides detailed images of the heart’s structure and function, allowing healthcare professionals to assess the severity of valve abnormalities, monitor disease progression, and guide treatment decisions. You will have to undress your top half and wear a gown for this test.
You will lie down on an examination table, and a technician will apply a gel to your chest. The technician will move a transducer, a small device emitting sound waves, over your chest to capture images of your heart. The test is painless and non-invasive, and it usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete. – The results provide detailed information about your heart’s structure, function, and blood flow.
This test is performed by cardiac sonographers at Peninsula Cardiology.
